Widgets

As I was about to post this week, I checked my email and had an email from retailmenot.com, the site I use to check for coupon codes before I shop online. They sent me a request to put their widget on my blog, which got me thinking about what other widgets are out there. I went to www.widgetbox.com, and as you can see on the right side of my page, I now have a Super Mario Bros widget as well as an MP3 widget which I plan to use for my podcast in the future.

For a practical application, I plan to browse the widgets and see what could come in handy for my pages I have for some local retail stores (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/Murray-KY/University-Book-Bean/108603845044?ref=ts) That page will connect you to the other three stores as well.

This week I also learned about something during the course of business that I ended up using for our benefit. One of my co-workers informed me that there is a Facebook page for Camex, a conference we have been planning an event for since I began my job. (www.camex.org). We will be hosting a customer appreciation party, and alot of our fans are fans at the Camex page. We ended up making a group for our customers to come to and we got them information about our event through Facebook instead of traditional media. We ended up getting a few RSVPs for our event solely through Facebook!
