I set up a Ning community for college bookstores. The business I work for is a textbook company...so I set up a community to help simplify their lives. I've always used Facebook & MySpace in the past...so this was along the same lines but I had a little more control.
When I sent this to my IT coworker..he mentioned that it was a good thought but that my market wasn't proactive enough for this to be successful. I flashed back to the part of Groundswell that talks about knowing your audience and determining the different kinds of people...my people aren't going to want to log in and discuss..they will want to have something sent to them like a blog or maybe something similar that can be added to their reader/rss feed. I'm still brainstorming to see what I can use..LinkedIn was suggested, but I just don't know that it would even be something they would interact with...suggestions?
